Pauline Black, well known singer, actress and presenter, revisits her roots as she takes you on a unique interpretative journey of the music of Billie Holiday and Nina Simone, backed by the 'blue jazz trio' (keyboards, bass and drums) As a young black woman growing up in Britain with no visible aspirational role models, she turned to these iconic jazz figures as the source of pride that led her to embrace the stage as a performer herself. Since then she has successfully fronted legendary 2-tone band The Selecter, acted on film, TV and stage, where most notably, she played the part of Billie Holiday at the Tricycle Theatre in London, for which she won the Time Out London award for her excellent portrayal. Nina Simone continues to be a source of inspiration for her new songwriting material. Her last album ‘Requiem for a Black Soul’ was dedicated to Ms. Simone. Through The Glass Darkly Tour Dates
